MusicLeader - what next?

As MusicLeader signs off, where can the music leading profession look now for ideas, support, training, development and work opportunities?

MusicLeader host organisations in each region are hard at work maintaining information, support training professional development opportunities for musicians working with children and young people. There have been a few sad farewells and changes of personnel - I've just started here at mac on the transition from MusicLeader WM to new mac programmes, after saying goodbye to Erika Baker, director of MLWM for the last 3 years. Until last week I worked for Youth Music as REO in the West Midlands, so I haven't gone far! Here at mac Birmingham, where MusicLeader West Midlands has been based for the last 7 years, we are working to let all our users and training/ event attenders know about opportunities with mac, and to set up some events to celebrate the legacy of MusicLeader WM over the next few months. All you music leaders in the West Midlands area - let me know what you'd find useful, who you want to meet, what are your burning issues. Email me on A few ideas in the pipeline: Early years - building on the successful MLWM EY Music seminar series in 2010/11 - sharing practice and looking at exciting ongoing work Progression, talent and the budding young musician Special needs and disabilities - latest techniques and technology for music making Others? There are still plenty of other sources of support and information out there too. First port of call of course, the Youth Music Network on this site with a wealth of content and plenty of potential to add more. A few other websites with current useful info: Around the regions :- - East of England - South East - London - North West - East Midlands - South West - West Midlands
