Early Years Music Education Research/Survey

This is an ongoing international research project by the Institute of Education, University of London...Please Participate or ask others to do so...Early Years Music Education needs all of us and our opinions/experiences to advance!

Dear Potential Participant in my Early Years Music Education Research Survey,

(referring to early years [0-4] music education program directors, teachers, facilitators, administrators, clinical practitioners, researchers…)

Would you like to participate in an international survey, thus contributing in the deeper understanding of the early years music education field?

Investigating this important and very exciting topic of early years music education (0-4), I would like to invite you to complete the following survey.

…Sorry for any cross-posting!

Wanting to provide an initial baseline of structural and educational understanding for the early years (0-4) music education context - seen either as intervention, development or clinical application - this survey aims to collect data from several early years music programs, in order to investigate, map and compare at an international level their structure and content. The investigation process follows British Educational Research Association’s (BERA) research guidelines and conduct, and has received ethical approval from the Institute of Education’s (University of London) Ethics Committee. It takes no more than 10 minutes to complete the survey, while you have the right to withdraw your input from the data collection or analysis process at any time with or without a reason.

Please follow this link (or copy and paste it on your browser) to the survey:

May I kindly ask you to also forward this invitation to whom it may concern, so that they can complete the survey themselves?

Thank you very much in advance for your time!

Kind regards,

Dr. Efthymios Papatzikis

Thank you for posting this! The research sounds very interesting, and I would be very interested in hearing more about it as it progresses. So please do keep posting updates about your findings on here!
I hope you can get a good number of responses, and maybe some of the group members could suggest other places where you could post this survey link? There is an Early Years Music Facebook Group I believe, but unfortunately I can't seem to find the link at present...

I have just completed this, but have to say it was hard to make sense of, and some of the questions did not quite translate into the work I do. Have others found this to be the case or is it just me?!!

Dear Kate,

thank you for your comment. I can really understand what you mean when you say that some of the questions do not quite translate into the work you do..but then again this is the target of the questionnaire..to internationally profile what early years music educators bring or do not bring in their practice or relate to it...I had to include an international perspective in this survey....so even if you couldn't relate to some of the questions that means something to me as a researcher...it is data... :-)

Hope this helps or at least clarifies the point of the survey....

best,
Efthymios

Yes, I can appreciate that. I just wasn't sure how to answer some of the questions, and am not sure I answered them all accurately as I couldn't quite make sense of how to relate those questions to what I do. I did my best!

Thanks,
Kate
