Britten Sinfonia Academy Auditions 2018-19

Event description

Britten Sinfonia Academy is our high level chamber ensemble for talented secondary school musicians from the across the East of England.

Participants receive expert mentoring from Britten Sinfonia musicians across four exciting projects throughout the academic year. The Academy offers the opportunity to delve into new styles of playing taught by specialist musicians as well as working with key international artists from Britten Sinfonia’s main season. We are looking for advanced players of Grade 8 standard and beyond and our main aim is to provide them with a progression route via direct mentoring from a range of top professionals and the opportunity to develop their leadership and chamber ensemble skills.

We also recently launched a Composer Hub alongside the Academy, so if you know any budding young composers this may interest them. Participants develop their creative, technical and stylistic skills through a programme of tailored compositional briefs, mentoring from renowned professionals, rehearsals, recordings and public performance opportunities. The 2018-19 Composer Hub will be mentored by Edmund Finnis.

I’d be very grateful if you could share this opportunity to any young people you feel would be interested in taking part. The application deadline is Monday 5 February 2018.
