Diversity Arts and Community Network meeting - Oct 13th

1 - 5.30pm

Turner Contemporary, Margate

Diversity Arts Network meeting

‘Diversity is the backbone of a thriving society'

After our successful launch in June at the Marlowe Theatre we shall be hosting our 2nd session at the Turner Contemporary, Margate on Oct 13th : 1 - 5.30pm.  Due to the interesting and varied discussions in June there are many organisations that have expressed an interest in talking about their work around Diversity.  Our speakers include a lead organisation talking about their work with the Roma community in Margate based in the Cliftonville area, and we will also have an in-depth session around barriers to funding for diverse-led work. This session and the next will be themed around funding opportunities, and we have the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Arts Council, and the Kent Community Foundation talking about their funding programmes. There will  be 1-1 sessions available to discuss your project with them, to network with others, and talk about your work.

Further chances to have 1-1 sessions on marketing, funding, and project development from specialist advisors at future Network meetings will  be set up depending on demand.  Please do email us back on events@equatorfestival.com if you are interested in a 1-1 session.

The Heritage Lottery Fund - Does your community group or organisation have an idea for a heritage project? Could the work you already do be the inspiration for a heritage project? Perhaps you want to tell a story which has been lost, forgotten, or never even told?  The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is the largest dedicated funder of heritage in the UK, and offers grants for projects which explore and engage people with heritage of all kinds, including people’s memories and important cultural traditions. Website: https://www.hlf.org.uk/

Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts is an open access funding programme for individuals, art organisations and other people who use the arts in their work. They offer awards from £1,000 to £100,000 to support a wide variety of arts-related activities, from dance to visual arts, literature to theatre, music to combined arts.  www.artscouncil.org.uk/funding/grants-arts

Kent Community Foundation awards grants to groups and individuals in Kent and Medway, with an aim to build strong and vibrant communities throughout the county. Our role as a Community Foundation is to match applications from the community to our donors’ interests.

If you want to speak about your work, or looking for suitable partners please do send us further details. We invite artists to discuss their work with others.  Arts and Cultural organisations can lead the way in diversity as an integral part of what they do, the work they programme and the staff they employ so that arts and culture can belong to everyone.  Organisations and individuals can book one place each as we have a limited capacity of 30.

We would like to thank Turner Contemporary for hosting this event with us.  Date: Friday 13th October 2017  Time: 1.00pm - 5.30pm  Venue: Turner Contemporary, Margate CT9 1HG. Boo your free ticket on  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/diversity-arts-network-meeting-tickets-37629324322
