I Live Hip Hop Summer Residency with US MC and educator Jahi

I Live Hip Hop Summer Residency is delivered by Brighter Sound and powered by Urban Development’s national initiative to support talent development in new styles of music.  It will take place from Mon 7 – Fri 11 August at Band on the Wall (25 Swan Street, Manchester, M4 5JZ).

The week is a chance to meet and collaborate with like-minded, talented young artists and musicians, and work with industry professionals in music production, vocals and studio recording, including US MC and educator Jahi.

Oakland rapper Jahi is frontman of PE 2.0, the next generation of iconic New York rap group Public Enemy. Jahi first met Public Enemy legend Chuck D after performing at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, kick-starting a friendship and music collaboration which saw him join Public Enemy’s 20th Anniversary Tour as MC and led to the formation of PE 2.0 in 2014. Jahi has released numerous underground solo projects, toured with the likes of Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Blackalicious, The Roots and Mary J Blige, and enjoys a successful career as a educator and programme manager.

Working with a team of established producers, lyricists, MCs and musicians, you will write and record trackscollaborate with other creatives, and build on skills and repertoire. You will also be given the opportunity to work towards and receive a nationally recognised Arts Award accreditation at the end of the week.

I Live Hip Hop is Brighter Sound’s strand for young and emerging hip hop, grime and MOBO musicians, MCs, singers and producers that launched in March 2016 at The Wonder Inn with Kendrick Lamar.
