Music Excellence London: Teachmeet- 'How ambitious should we be at KS3?'

Event description

This TeachMeet will explore how, and to what extent, we could and should be ambitious for our Key Stage 3 musicians. To what extent should we be teaching musical notation and literacy alongside practical skills? How can we push pupils to be the best musicians they can? How could we ensure that an inclusive curriculum is also ambitious for all students? Do we have the same expectations in a KS3 Music class as other subjects? How can we prepare them for GCSE and further study while also engaging the majority of students who won’t be continuing to study Music post-KS3? Come along to share ideas and activities.

Attendees will be asked if they want to share a mini-presentation (no longer than 5 minutes) or a nano-presentation (no longer than 2 minutes) in this quick-fire practice-sharing session. TeachMeets are about bringing teachers together to inspire each other, so be prepared to get stuck into new ideas with ample opportunity for networking.

This event is part of a series of six TeachMeets held between October 2016 and July 2017, as part of Music Excellence London.

All attendees will need to bring photo ID with them on the day (as there will still be pupils in the school at the time).
