Music Excellence London: TeachMeet - 'Planning for a new curriculum from KS3-5'

Event description

With the advent of the new GCSE and A Level curricula, the stubbornness of the EBacc, and the increasingly bleak funding and timetable pressure on Music in the curriculum, the hope of preparing students for study at KS4 and 5 seems increasingly difficult using the classroom alone.

This TeachMeet will look at how a KS3 curriculum can build both practical and theory skills, and how we might approach assessment in these different strands. We will also look at options for music at KS4 (GCSE, RSL, BTEC) as well as looking at what it means to try and build KS5 music students from the moment they arrive in Year 7. Bridge Academy is a Music specialist school hosting this event. We are happy to share resources for our current courses at KS3 and KS4 (Edexcel GCSE, RSL music practitioners).
