NYMAZ SEND Music Network Gathering, 15 Nov 2017

Following the success of the 2016 NYMAZ SEN/D Music Network Gathering, we're delighted to present another fantastic lineup of speakers for 2017! We invite you to join us at the serene open spaces at Pavilions of Harrogate.
Join us for an afternoon that will feature a range of presentations and practical CPD workshops offering insights into best practice in making music with children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as taking the opportunity to network with others in the sector. The event is open to all those in North Yorkshire and Teesside, and further afield, who are working with (or interested in working with) children and young people with Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities, including music practitioners, workshop leaders, classroom teachers, staff and freelance practitioners, students and more.

Tickets £15/£20. Book at https://nymazsend2017.eventbrite.co.uk

Speakers at this year's Gathering will include:

  • Rachel Wolffsohn, from The OHMI Trust: Pioneering innovative musical instruments for those who are physically disabled
  • Barry Farrimond, from OpenUp Music: Empowering young disabled musicians to build inclusive youth orchestras
  • Ben Sellers: Composing and improvising with iPads for the non-music specialist
  • Sarah Mawby, PhD student, University of Leeds: Exploring ‘best practice’ in SEN/D music education
  • Parissa Zarifi (musinc): Youth work approach to facilitation; young person led activity with The Big Music Project

The event will be catered with hot drinks and cakes to keep everybody refreshed, so come along and celebrate the exciting and rewarding landscape that is SEN/D Music across North Yorkshire and beyond, whilst sharing in the wisdom of some renowned organisations about their practices.
