Samba Drumming and Body Percussion

During the afternoon you will get the chance to learn how to play Brazilian percussion instruments, learn Brazilian rhythms, develop ensemble leading techniques and compose your own rhythms. There will the opportunity to play a range of drums and look at how you can adapt samba drumming to classroom percussion instruments.

Ollie will also introduce and explore elements of body percussion. Through fun and accessible games and exercises everyone will work together to develop confidence and understanding of this highly adaptable medium.

There will be useful information about how you can include group percussion techniques in your teaching, when working in schools or community settings. Activities can be immediately implemented into lessons, rhythms can be learnt aurally and can include everyone, with or without musical experience.

This workshop is suitable for teachers, leaders, practitioners and everyone who would like to develop more skills and experience of group percussion.
