Search and Reflect Weekend Course

Event description

From the 27th to the 29th of October 2017 Community Music will be running a weekend course of music workshop skills from Community Music co-founder John Stevens' unique and groundbreaking Search and Reflect manual.

John Stevens, the innovative drummer, composer and educator co-founded Community Music in 1983 and was the Creative Director until his death in 1994.

During this time he trained hundreds of musicians in Search and Reflect techniques and dictated the manual of pieces that is still in print to this day.

Community Music continues to use many pieces from the Search and Reflect manual as the basis of its workshop skills training and as an important element of the Creative Music Production & Business foundation degree and other courses.

On the 3 day course you will: - Learn unique workshop methods for all ages and skill levels - Increase your repertoire of music-based group activities - Develop improvisation skills for use in your own creative composition and teaching others

The course will feature contributions from some of the original team of musicians trained by John Stevens including:

- Dave Marchant - Julia Doyle - Julia Farrington - Mark Thomas
