First CYMAZ Networking Session a succcess!

On 10th December at Wheal Martyn China Clay museum in St Austell, CYMAZ celebrated its achievements to date and launched new initiatives under the Youth Music Musical Inclusion programme. Practitioners, professionals, agencies and organisations came from across Cornwall to enjoy the evening.

The evening, presented Jools Holland style, was a combination of networking time, presentations and performances. The venue lent itself to a creative approach for this first networking event. With a market place area, CYMAZ was pleased to have valuable input from the Cornwall Music Education Hub, dBs Music in Camborne, South West Music School and Youth Music.

By signing up to the CYMAZ Network, members can access information about funding, events, training, projects and resources and can connect with other professionals in Cornwall and beyond. CYMAZ will be working with partners in identified cold spots to deliver a programme of music making from February. This scheme is called 'CYMAZ Sessions' and you can find out more by emailing jane@cymaz.co.uk.

CYMAZ believes in the power of music to transform lives and works in partnership with a range of organisations and agencies across Cornwall to build high quality, sustainable and person centred music making activity. With a commitment to quality and to constant development,

CYMAZ has launched a bursary scheme. Generate is a new initiative for practitioners and organisations to be able to apply for funds towards their own training and development. Individuals can apply for up to £500 and organisations up to £1,000 towards activities which will help them to improve practice, learn something new or even to build a training programme using existing expertise. For the application form and guidance notes, sign up to the CYMAZ Network on the link above.

Feedback from the Network launch evening was incredibly positive and supportive;

Amanda Harris, Director of KEAP said; Just another thank you for last evening. It was a lovely atmosphere and enlightening to get a feel for CYMAZ’s work Emily, Co-Director of CYMAZ said, “tonight was a really good opportunity to showcase the work and priorities of CYMAZ and to set the tone for our future initiatives”. Jane, Co-Director said; “It was just so fantastic that so many people made the effort to come and in fact many didn’t even want to leave until well after the event had finished! We look forward to many more successful networking events.”

In the evaluation feedback forms all those present felt that their expectations were met either mostly or fully. All those present said they felt inspired and knew how they can engage with CYMAZ. More than half said they would follow up on contacts made at the event.
