I am looking for parents, carers and teachers of children with Autism who are willing to take part in anonymous questionnaire

Great news - Jackass Youth Theatre have been chosen once again to take part in the National Theatre’s Connections Programme! The project sees youth theatres from around the country performing one of 12 specially commissioned scripts written for young people by successful industry professions.

On Monday 11th Jackass Youth Theatre took part in a 4-hour evening workshop at Jack Drum Arts with renowned storyteller Nick Hennessey, as part of the Highlights cultural events programme. The aim was to introduce the young people to the art of storytelling, focussing on stories from the North and the incorporation of music, movement, and rhythm into performance.

Performing music can be terrifiying.  And there is nothing like fear to bring people together.

Everything is interesting if you say it with heart.

Good News for Runaway Samba!

I'm delighted to announce that Jack Drum Arts' house samba band, Runaway Samba, won the Runner-Up prize of £1000 at the Durham High Sheriff's Awards on March 30th. The band performed for the event held at Durham Castle, and representatives of the group attended the award ceremony, wangling seats next to the Chair of Durham County Council and the Lord Lieutenant of Durham! The award recognises their civic contribution to community, providing enrichment and opportunities for engagement to the people of Co. Durham. Well done folks! The prize will go towards our planned samba research trip to Brazil in 2017.
