Funding advice and help needed please!

Hi - I'm looking into the possibility of getting funding to run a 4 week intensive project during summer 2015 to get local teenagers playing in a samba "bloco" at the Notting Hill Carnival.

I currently run workshops  - mainly in Enfield, North London - teaching samba to primary and secondary school children.  I think a group of young people would benefit greatly in terms of meeting a challenge and the resulting boost in confidence if they were to be taught to play at a high standard in the Notting Hill carnival.

I'd like funding to pay for me to be employed to run the course with another teacher and for instruments - I have instruments to run my school courses but to withstand the punishment of a four week course plus a whole day being played at carnival the instruments would have to be of a better standard.

Once used for this course though, the instruments could be used for further courses. I would also hope that after this experience the young people involved could then form a core for future membership to grow around.

Currently, samba schools taking part in Carnival tend to be made up of older, middle class people - I envision a group of young people from all backgrounds bringing their experiences, attitudes and culture to bear in creating a carnival sound with traditional Brazilian mixed with contemporary british elements.

I would welcome any advice or comments on how to get funding, how to approach the application process and any tips you could offer. If you know of a similar project I would really appreciate any info, contacts etc.

Thanks
