1. What is the Youth Music Network?

The Youth Music Network is an online community for people who work in music education. Free to join, the Youth Music Network is a space for professionals to access and share a huge range of music education resources. It’s also the main gateway for accessing Youth Music funding.

2. Who runs the Youth Music Network?

The Youth Music Network is brought to you by the National Foundation for Youth Music, a charity providing life-changing music-making opportunities to young people in England. The Youth Music Network is an online community, and hence, the majority of the content and resources is created by its members.

3. Why was the Network created?

Two words. Sharing practice. We know there are lots of dedicated music professionals out there working hard to transform young lives. But it can be tough, especially if you are working on your own as a freelancer. Sometimes, time and money is the biggest barrier and getting access to networking or training opportunities is diificult. We created the Youth Music Network so that music education professionals can stay connected, no matter what their circumstances.

4. What can I do on the Youth Music Network?

Lots! Read and post blogs, events and job listings. Access resources, the latest research or , take part in group discussions with other members. If you are thinking about running a music making project then you also apply for funding or locate potential collaborators. 5. How many people use the Youth Music Network?

In Nov 2013 we had around 4,500 signed-up members and 7,000 professionals subscribed to our monthly newsletter. We also have a thriving community of 2,600 followers on Twitter where we regularly post links to the latest contributions from Network members.

6. How do I sign up for an account?

Go to network.youthmusic.org.uk and select “Join the Network” at the top of the page. Signing up only takes a few minutes. Don’t forgot to add a nice picture of yourself and a short biography!

7. I’m not based in England. Can I still join the Network?

Of course. The more the merrier! The only thing you may not be able to so is apply for Youth Music funding. Find out if you are eligible for Youth Music funding.

8. Are there any rules I need to follow?

As this is an online community, should you wish to take part, you need to follow some simple behaviour guidelines. In short, be nice to people, and hopefully, they'll be nice to you! More info on house rules can be found in our terms and conditions.

9. I’m new to blogging. Any advice?
