Job description

We are seeking an individual who shares our passion for music education and sharing live music with people of all ages and backgrounds, and has at least two years professional experience. Of equal importance is appointing an individual with a creative mind, exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills. There will be opportunities to increase responsibility and tailor the role to individual strengths.

The Education Projects Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Meet the Music programme. This primarily involves taking sole responsibility for managing projects on the ground, and working alongside the Education Manager to develop new work and maintain existing relationships. The Education Projects Coordinator also works closely with the Orchestra Manager on fixing musicians for Meet the Music projects, Chief Operating Officer on financial reporting, the Performances Manager on assisting with concert management, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator on promoting the Meet the Music programme and assisting the Development team with information for fundraising bids.

We are seeking an individual, who shares our approach and ethos towards orchestral outreach and music education and has a collaborative and creative approach to working with both the Orchestra’s executive team and our musicians. They will be a welcoming ambassador for the Orchestra, both towards external partners and our musicians, and someone who enjoys taking a proactive, solution-led approach to project management.

Closing date for applications is Thursday 6 October 2016 at 12 noon. First round interviews will take place 11 & 12 October at the orchestra’s offices in Brixton with Gillian Hunter-Gibbs and the orchestra’s Chief Executive Matthew Swann (shortlisted candidates will be asked to prepare a short presentation for this interview), with a possibility of second interviews in the week commencing 17 October.
