Sound Connections Programme Coordinator Vacancy (Maternity Cover)

Job description

Sound Connections is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to help support us across our music programmes. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating Wired4Music and associated youth participation programmes, and will be expected to provide ongoing support to the Programme Manager, including fundraising and partnership building.

The successful candidate will also work alongside our Programme Manager to plan, deliver and report on youth voice consultancy, and will contribute to Sound Connections’ development and the achievement of it’s mission, aims and objectives.

As Coordinator of Wired4Music, the post holder will be expected to facilitate and run quarterly network meet-ups and monthly drop-in sessions. They will also support the delivery of the Wired4Music Leadership Programme including holding one-to-one mentoring sessions with young leaders and monitoring programme activity. In addition to this, the post holder will also oversee and promote opportunities for the Wired4Music Member-led programme strand, lead on recruiting and inducting new Wired members, and provide pastoral support to members at events, meetings and during projects.

The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the smooth-running of project finances, including day-t0-day management of the Wired4Music budget. Other responsibilities include supporting the Programme Manager on consultancy projects, supporting Sound Connections’ communications strategy and keeping up to date on the latest news and developments in music education, participation and youth culture.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of coordinating arts or cultural programmes for young people and must have previous experience of working directly with young people, including one-to-one and facilitating or leading groups. They will have the ability and confidence to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including young people, colleagues, partners, funders and policy-makers. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write compelling and engaging copy and reports is essential, as is the ability to collect and analyse data using surveys, monitoring and evaluation. A strong interest in and flair for using social media and collaborative online platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, WordPress, and Mailchimp is also key.
