Rocking through Halloween!

A fantastic and spectacular Half Term and Halloween.

This is turning into a very exciting Autumn term! After such a wonderful summer of activities and a great trip out to the theatre, we started this term with a clear plan, rolled up our sleeves and got down to some serious work ...

With our Discover Arts Awards to complete, a song to write, a performance to plan and strengthening our skills on our instruments we knew we were heading into a busy term.

We had a fantastic half term break with our families, practicing our marching skills while playing on the Boom Dang festival drums and tagging the walls in the arches, under the old railway lines, with our names. It was a chilly and damp Autumn day but we hardly noticed as we were having so much fun!

Some of us went to the Juice Festival 'Day of the Dead Family Event' for Halloween. We watched a show of acrobats, hula hopping and juggling and there was music and face painting. It was spectacular and a lot of fun!

We also took private lessons on our instruments (drum kit, piano and guitar) and the lessons are definitely paying off. Our skills are improving and we are feeling so much more confident. We love showing off our new skills!

Today we had our first session back after half term and it was brilliant!  Some of us have been writing lyrics and today we put them together with a tune. We have verses, a chorus and a rapping section. We have been learning a riff on each of our instruments and today we played them all together as a band and added the song on top ... and WE ROCKED!!! We sounded really good and are so proud of ourselves.

With everything we have done we have so much to add to our Arts Award books and are pretty close to done and we have some very exciting things coming up later this term!

Have a happy and safe bonfire night!
