Song writing master class - listen to Heal by young singers Olivia and Faye

In March 2015 The Urban Vocal Group ran a song writing master class in partnership with SoCo Music; giving our young musicians the opportunity to experience the song writing and recording process from demo to disc.

The first original from these workshops ‘Snapchat Stalker’ was recorded in August and this month we recorded ‘Heal’, written by Olivia and Faye, two of The UVG’s longest serving members (7 and 6 years respectively) The link to the final mix of 'Heal' can be found below and both young singers are delighted with the result.

We asked Olivia to give us some feedback on her experience

"The session at Old Blacksmiths studios was great. It was such a lovely environment to record in. The engineer we worked with was great and listened to all suggestions made by me and Faye. The main thing that I learnt was just belt it out when recording. The thing that inspired me to write this song was past friendships and at the time the song was written I was just starting to accept that it was time to move on. I have written only a couple of songs but I would definitely say that mine and Faye's song has been the best one by far. UVG had helped me to make my music by putting on workshops like the song writing weekend and recording sessions, it really gives a taster to what if could be like if I were to see music as a future, which I do."
