Wise Words to a new generation of young musicians

At the beginning of 2014 The UVG launched the open rehearsal format where parents, family and supporters of the group have the opportunity to see what we do at our weekly rehearsals.

We also invite a local up and coming artist to perform a set and then take part in a question and answer session with the young singers. These sessions have been hugely successful in both promoting the group and informing our young people about song writing, performing and starting out in the industry. This November we had our first UVG Portsmouth open rehearsal featuring singer song writer Luke Ferre. We took the opportunity to film the event and the Q & A session was one of the most productive with lots of questions from UVG members and some very informative and insightful answers from Luke. Feedback from our young singers was very positive with many commenting that they had "learnt a lot" from the session. 

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to engage our singers in music making and would be interested in what sort of activities other organisations are using to inform and educate their young musicians?
