Video: North Yorkshire Young Music Leaders

If you are interested, please have a watch of this evaluation video from our Young Music Leadership project which concluded at the end of the summer.

The project was delivered with one of our partner organisations, Connecting Youth Culture, and was set up to engage and support young musicians from across the North Yorkshire county - a very wide geographical area. One of the ways we made this work for the young people was to run a Young Music Leaders residential over a long weekend,  which you'll hear about in the video, in addition to a series of workshops, activities and one-to-one sessions in locations across the county. Some of the young people on the project have spent the last year working towards their Gold Arts Award, which will be a major achievement when they are completed!

North Yorkshire Young Music Leaders was delivered by Connecting Youth Culture in partnership with NYMAZ, with thanks to funding from Youth Music's Young Music Leadership module.

Thanks for posting Millie. It'll be good to hear from other projects running Young Leaders programmes - eg Brighter Sound in Manchester, More Music in Morecambe, Wiltshire WYAP and BSharp in Dorset ... I'm sure there are others ... would be great to see people pooling thoughts and resources on young leaders and I know Debra and Pete from Brighter Sound and More Music ran a session at the Gathering earlier this year on this topic.

CYMAZ will also be interested as they were doing some research around this, or wanting to - see http://network.youthmusic.org.uk/groups/musical-inclusion/discussions/yo...

This is great, thanks for sharing. Having worked with some of these talented young people on the Music4U gamelan workshop within the Young Music Leaders project, it's a real joy to how they are developing as the next generation of music professionals. Congratulations to all!
