Interesting progression !

In 1994 I was working my way round the local schools doing one man band shows and workshops and at one of them was a 10 year old girl called Hannah Baldwin.

She connected with More Music almost immediately, joining the Baybeat Streetband as a percussionist. She then came on a work placement from school, joined some other bands and went off to study Performing Arts in York. She visited us during that time then went to do teacher training and ended up in teaching over 6 years in 3 secondary schools in London (including one very tough one). In 2011 she got in touch with me because she was wondering about taking a job in an international school in Guangzhou in southern China and knowing that I had been travelling there wanted to know what I thought of the idea. She got the job and last year invited me to her school (Utaloy International) to run a day long rhythm workshop ! The circle was turning ! This year I spent 2 days in the school; writing songs, teaching the primary choir, giving samba workshops for year sevens and a One Man Band show for the whole primary school. Today she said how all through her career as she has been interviewed and had to run sessions to show what she could do she has used what she learnt from being in that band all those years ago - accessible, fun, engaging musicmaking.
