Pickled Pink

Our new piece 'Pickled pink' was performed live at a Carousel fund raising event

'Pickled pink' is a new piece created by the 'Carousel Singers' choir and band. The process behind the creation of this track started with our keyboard player louis creating a musical motif based on the popular cartoon soundtrack 'the pink panther'. After working this further as a band in rehearsals we presented the piece as a complete instrumental to the choir. The choir started using the idea of building a lyrical narrative to the piece by exploring characterisation. We used a variety of hats as props to inspire the choir to write basic character led stories. These were finally merged with some help from the facilitators to arrive at a piece which documents the journey of a thief on the run across the world! The choir then built on the piece further by developing a dance performance and supplementing the instrumentation with some chime bar solos.
