Cymaz Music has been working with Cornwall Music Education Hub (CMEH) since before it's inception. We have worked hard to ensure that inclusion is at the core of the Hub and have been involved as delivery and strategic partners since the beginning. This has included research and consultation into barriers and cold spots in the county as well as designing targeted programmes of support to ensure that the most vulnerable children and young people in Cornwall have had access to music provision.

“This was one of the best conferences I have been to for a long time. Great balance of practical activities and talks.”
On 25th May, Cymaz Music held a conference at Newquay Sands Resort, for teachers, educators, musicians and those interested in using music and creativity to support the emotional and mental health of children and young people. This was funded by Youth Music under a Fund B programme.
Working in partnership with HeadStart Kernow, the Virtual School for Children in Care, RAAS, Cornwall Music Education Hub and Carefree, the day was a balance of presentations and practical workshops.

We wanted to share with you some observations from a Music Leader who has been working with Cymaz Music for the last few months. As part of the induction process for Music Leaders they must observe other sessions, assist on sessions and then they may be ready to take on leading on their own. Here is what Alex wrote about his experiences and observations of working with Cymaz Music in Cornwall.

We asked Advanced Music Leader Simon Williams to reflect on his experience and practice of working with children and young people with special needs, using the 'Do, Review, Improve' framework. All Cymaz Music provision is based on a young person centred approach and uses structure and flexible creativity in equal balance to offer high quality experiences.

Watch this 10 minute film to find out about our work with young people excluded from mainstream schools. Cymaz Music has been working in AP Academies for a few years and this film shows some of the impact and also the essential ingrediants for successful partnerships with AP Academies. This work has been primarily funded by Cornwall Music Education Hub as part of its ongoing commitment to inclusion and ensuring all children and young people can access music education.

Reflections from the Cymaz Music Youth Ensemble Project (YEP!) and how we are supporting the development of young people's musical and creative skills.

Please click here to see a wonderful film of the most recent phase of the YEP! project. It features the piece of music created by the group along with evidence of impact. A really inspiring watch and listen!
