One of the most exciting parts of working at Youth Music is hearing the music created by young people from the projects we support. And we love to share this music with our supporters: it’s one of the best ways for us to demonstrate what our charity does via our website, social media, newsletters and other communications channels. However, if we share tracks where young people express themselves freely, do we run the risk of upsetting those who object to the language used or the subject matter?

CEO Matt Griffiths introduces our evaluation of the 2014/15 financial year, demonstrating our investment in the growth and development of organisations across the music education sector, which in turn has led to significant outcomes for young people across the country.

On Friday we published the interim evaluation of Youth Music's Exchanging Notes programme, designed to foster collaboration between classroom teachers and community music leaders, and to increase young people's engagement. Below is a press release highlighting the key findings, along with a link to the evaluation report.

We’re Youth Music. We’re a national charity investing in music-making projects for children and young people facing challenging circumstances.

We believe everyone should have the chance to make music.

Our projects help young people develop musically, of course, but they have personal and social outcomes too.

We know that those facing difficulties - economic problems, lifelong conditions, tough circumstances or behavioural issues - are often the ones who get the most out of music-making.

Youth Music offers meaningful chances to young people in complicated situations.

With your support, we can make a genuine difference to many more young lives.
