Summer Mix is an intensive music project for 16-25 year olds living in the London borough of Lewisham. We are looking for all sorts of musicians to join us for a great two weeks of free music creation and performance in July.
What are the dates?
Monday 1st of July - Drop in registration (half hour session)
15 - 26 July 2013, 1-4pm or 4.30-7.30pm (Monday to Friday only)
Who are we looking for?
Musicians, rappers, poets, producers, vocalists, DJs, street dancers and music technologists to come and
work with our experienced leaders in creating new music, ending with a performance on Friday 26th July at 5pm. You don't need to be at a certain level and all instruments and music styles are welcome.
How does it work?
You choose to join one of the sessions below. Each session has ten spaces available. If
you want to sign up to two sessions (one in the afternoon and one in the evening) that's fine -all you need to do is let us know in your sign up form. Once you've registered your interest you will receive more information and who you will need to attend a quick registration meeting on the morning of the 1st of July in Greenwich.
Hip Hopera (1-4pm)
A rap opera or hip hopera is a series of hip hop songs in the form of an opera. An Opera is
just a posh word for telling a story through music, something that happens in
Urban music all the time. This workshop needs rappers, poets, producers and performers.
Summer Bash (1-4pm)
Choreographed percussion mostly made from everyday objects, movement and comedy make for a real musical workout, both creatively and physically.
Rock Opera (1-4pm)
Guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, singing and songwriting feature in this classic
Hotwired Live (4.30-7pm)
Anything goes in this mixture of Live and computerized instruments blending to make something definitely 21st Century.
Urban Beats and Moves (4.30-7pm)
Calling Beat boxers, Music producers and Street dancers in this High Energy workshop.
