Choose your fund

Youth Music offers three different funds tailored to meet the size and scope of your project.

  Fund A Fund B Fund C   
Description Fund A awards smaller grants for high-quality projects that will help us achieve our vision for a musically inclusive England. Fund B awards medium sized grants for high-quality, sustained projects that help achieve a musically inclusive England. Fund C awards larger grants for projects with a dual role of delivery and strategic work; expanding and embedding high quality, inclusive music-making.

Setting your own intended outcomes Projects are required to set and
work towards achieving three
outcomes.

outcomes.
Projects are required to work towards achieving five to seven outcomes, across all outcome areas. Two of these are set by Youth Music.  
How much can I request? £2,000 to £30,000

£30,001 to £200,000 (to a maximum
of £100,000 per annum)

Please note those applying for over £150,000 must contact Youth Music to discuss their proposal before submitting an application.

How much match funding do I need to raise? 10% (at least 5% must be cash
match funding)
10% (at least 5% must be cash

15% (at least 7.5% must be cash
match funding)
 
How much capital funding can I apply for? Youth Music primarily funds revenue costs (e.g. project delivery) and will not fund significant capital costs (this includes music equipment expenditure). If your capital costs exceed 10% of your overall request to Youth Music, you will need to justify the rationale for this in your application.  
When are the stage one application deadlines?

(Normally three times a year in April, August and December) 

Round 11: Friday 8 December 2017, 5pm

(Normally twice a year in May and November)

If my application is successful, when should I start my project? Within 3 months of notification. The earliest your first payment is likely to be made is six weeks from the date you are notified you have been successful. Can I apply for more than one Fund?
  • Only one Fund A grant can be held by an organisation at any one time
  • Fund A grant-holders are eligible to apply for Fund B
  • Only one Fund B grant can be held by an organisation at any one time
  • Fund B programmes are likely to consist of several ‘sub’ projects
  • Fund B grant-holders are eligible to apply for Fund A (but not Fund C)
  • Fund C grant-holders are eligible to hold a Fund A (but not Fund B) grant
  • Existing Fund A and B grantholders are eligible to apply  

  • If successful, any existing Fund B grant would swap to a Fund C from 1 April 2018.
