Drake Music Scotland has been enabling people with additional support needs and disabilities to play, compose, and perform music for 20 years.
Our vision is to transform people’s lives through the power of music. We play a lead role in making Scotland a place where ground-breaking new music featuring skilled musicians and composers with disabilities comes alive for everyone. We reshape the definition of musicians, musical instruments and ensembles, building momentum as the country’s centre of expertise in inclusive music technologies and as an innovator on the international stage.
Our stand-out ensemble is the Digital Orchestra. This group developed out of our youth music ensemble, Technophonia, which debuted in May 2012 as part of London 2012 Cultural Olympiad – making it the world’s first disabled youth music ensemble.
Its growing international reputation has lead to a string of invitations from festivals and events from across the globe including the True Colours Festival Singapore in March 2018.
Since August 2017, the Digital Orchestra is a member of Association of British Orchestras – the first national disabled youth orchestra to join.
