Benefits Of Taking A Music Teaching Course

You are a musician. ✔ You are experienced in what you do. ✔ You have a passion for music. ✔ You feel you have the capabilities to pass on your knowledge. ✔

You have come to a realisation that you might actually want to go on to teach music as a career, but are unsure where to start or how to go about becoming a music teacher.

Here at Community Music we offer a Music Leader Training course specifically tailored for musicians.

“What are the benefits of taking a Music Teaching Course?” you may ask! In fact there are many benefits.

Firstly, after completing and passing the course, you will have acquired the threshold qualification to teach in the non-statutory education sector to add to your collection of achievements. This will add more credibility and weight to your applications for teaching roles.

You will leave the course with a clear idea of how to write lesson plans, making your life a lot easier when it comes to structuring your future lessons.

You will gain experience and grow in confidence with the delivery of your lessons, whilst benefitting from tutor and peer feedback, enabling you to consistently improve.

You will learn about the laws within teaching and put health & safety procedures into practice.

You will meet like-minded individuals, build your network and create more opportunities for work and collaborative projects.

The Music Leader Training course at Community Music can be taken over 5 intensive weekends or one evening a week for 24 weeks. Successful students gain a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in Education and Training (EaT) - formerly PTLLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector). The course costs £597 and can be paid in instalments.

In conclusion there are definitely huge benefits to taking a music-teaching course. As well as improving your credibility and suitability to apply for existing teaching roles, it would also increase your confidence and ability to pass on your skills, allowing you to successfully design and lead your own workshops within your community.
