Film as a learning and reflection tool

At Wild Earth, we use as a learning and reflective tool in the Nature Beats programme. Here's why?

Every Friday morning, begins with a chilled out zone for the young people to begin their day with a cup of tea and toast, followed shortly by watching a film of the previous indoor day and the current week's outdoor day. The film is made by the young people with assitance from the Wild Earth staff in editing. As a resource, it is an extremely useful one to review the activities and get a sense of individual and collective learning.

Some of the highlights of the film as a reflective tool - Communication in the group - how can it be made better. What does our body language say about our levels of engagement?  Supporting the group - watching the film and discussing issues brought a natural solution of using a 'buddying up' system of peer support and check in. Resources - Do we need anything else to improve our experience? Team work - What worked well? What didn't?
