Flexibility - the key to unlocking progress

The best laid plans etc.................................

Just a quick update on our project. With all our well-developed plans in place we have had to be flexible to maintain our progress, welcome late arrivers and move some participants around to ensure that all are encouraged to take part in the most rewarding creative experiences we can offer. Working closely with our major partner, Epping Forest College, we have rescheduled around our musicians needs and abilities, moved some on to different activities which better suited them and also incorporated other project activities into existing sessions.

An example of this is that two of our bass players recently began participating in our singing workshops. Their vocal progress has been extremely encouraging and we have used some of the time allocated to bass lessons (which showed limited progress) to work on enunciation, lyrics and song structures. Whilst continuing with bass guitar, the extra time on singing has proven invaluable and assisted progress in a creative area which they can sense they are really achieving and feel rightly proud of.

I suppose the message is never to consider your plans wholly set in stone and be ready to adjust and reschedule to meet various needs and respond to unearthed talents.
