Meet our new Early Years Apprentices

We’re thrilled to announce this year’s round of Early Years Apprentices. We had a huge number of applications this year, a testament to the need for more spaces catering to supporting those working in the early years music sector.

We’re delighted to be welcoming five exceptional apprentices, all of whom bring with them a wealth of skills, knowledge and understanding about early years music practice. We look forward to working with them over the next year.

Our apprentices this year come from a wide range of backgrounds, please meet:

Isobel Perl

A recent graduate, Izzy wrote an in-depth dissertation on approaches to early years learning. As a mother, Isobel has hands on experience of music making with babies and children and will use the experiences offered with the London Early Years Music Network (LEYMN) to grow her practice.

Claire Shaw

Claire is a singer and arts education professional with over ten years of arts education both in the UK and in the US. She specialises in classical voice. When she’s not creating operas with children Claire can be found managing the Vocal Department at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, writing children’s picture books and playing the Cello.

Claudia Oliver

Claudia, has a huge love for of Latin American rhythms and musical traditions, and studied music in Colombia before travelling and settling in the UK. Claudia has ben cultivating exciting early years sessions in nursery and school settings in London.

Hannah Larkin

Hannah Larkin is an experienced primary school teacher. Currently in Camden, she has 18 years of experience in the field and her specialisms are in African drumming and steel pan. In her spare time, she enjoys directing choirs and playing with the Aurelian Ensemble in her spare time.

Beth Frost

Beth Frost is an early years teacher and singer. She has performed in venues all over the UK,  including Glastonbury, and qualified as a teacher in 2008.  She completed a Masters in Music Education last year, including a thesis on the musicality of children and young people with Williams Syndrome. Beth is now excited to build upon the Masters, and enhance her teaching practice, a keen interest in inclusion through music, music technology in the Foundation Stage classroom and the symbiosis between movement and music.
