Music Excellence London Teacher Advocates

Music Excellence London is a new 18-month programme of continuing professional development (CPD), support and inspiration for London’s Key Stage 3 music teachers.

Music Excellence London is a new 18-month programme of continuing professional development (CPD), support and inspiration for London’s Key Stage 3 music teachers. It is led by Sound Connections, in partnership with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Music Mark, Barbican Guildhall, and University of Greenwich, and it is funded by the Greater London Authority through its London Schools Excellence Fund. It draws on the learning of both the Teach Through Music and Peer to Peer programmes, which ran concurrently over 2014-15, and engaged teachers from every borough in London. We have recruited 14 Teacher Advocates who will lead a new network of music teachers, host TeachMeets in their schools, and contribute to curriculum development of the programme. The aim of the Teacher Advocate role is to move forward the discussion on professional development of music teachers in the capital, through activity designed by teachers for teachers.
