Stepping into Spring with a Moo, Squeak and Baa

At Chuckle Productions our Sound Connection Project has come alive with the sound of farm animals.

One of our focused activities is to encourage interaction with musical objects and develop an understanding of cause and effect. We have been having great fun helping our younger children interact with the Sound Beam Switches by placing pictures of animals on each of the switches and programming them to sound out the corresponding animal noise.

We have been able to include the animal switches into nursery songs such as Old MacDonald. Here we have encouraged skills such as listening to others, turn taking and playing within a group environment.

The progression from this activity has been to assign colours to the sound beam switches and help the children to play simple songs by matching the colours to a certain notes. We have thrilled to see some of our children and young adults with PMLD show a flair for reading music by this method.
