Over the first half term of the year we have been preparing for our Halloween show, the Halloween Happening. After sessions of idea formulating and rehearsals we approached the Halloween holidays and embarked on a few long days of rehearsals on site. The rehearsals went fantastically well and so we were all excited for the actual performance, which was a fantastic success.

East By North East is a Youth Music funded project that brings together young people, and a staff team, from diverse backgrounds, celebrating different cultures and musical genres.  The music sessions allow us to explore different tastes and develop skills in music and to build confidence together.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our fantastic East by North East project so far. Without the hard work of all the young people, support workers, teachers, volunteers and music leaders who have taken part and supported this work, we wouldn't be able to shout about this amazing project!

“Don’t waste time on closed doors”; a great piece of advice Gwyneth gave me during my internship with musinc! Having a committed project partner that shares the same ethos is vital when developing a project.

As part of the project evaluation process all schools within the project have created trees focusing learning taking place.

I reflect on the social and cultural mix of our young musicians, in the very particular context of Teesside with all its challenges, and how positive the project has been.
