Little Music Makers is a weekly music group for pre-school children and their parents/carers in East Chesterton, Cambridge. It is run by the Chesterton Parents' Group, a voluntary group that organises free or low cost activities for the under fives.

The group is attended by approximately 50 children and 40 adults each week, in two sessions on Tuesday mornings. It offers adults and children the opportunity to sign and make music together under the direction of our part-time music teacher. Little Music Makers aims to model to parents how to enjoy using music to play with their children so that they will continue in the home setting. It will support young children in the key areas of social and emotional development. language and communication skills, as well as cognitive and physical skills. It will provide a good grounding in musical play and introduce them to the musical concepts of beat, rhythm, pitch, tempo, listening, responding, singing and playing basic percussion. Little Music Makers also aims to foster friendships between parents/carers of young children, reducing the risk of social isolation, and helps to strengthen the bond between parent and child by involvement in an enjoyable shared activity.
