A music project which is mixing up cultures, styles and genres, designed around collaborations of people and music, this project aims to work with young people from all walks of life.

Currently we run a session at our studios on New Walk in leicester.

delivering a weekly session working with young people from all sorts of areas and countries. Young people are able to dabble in music technology, or get into writing bars which can then be recorded in our studios, or why not join one of our tutors and learn to shred the frets on guitar and learning styles and techniques to learn all your favourite songs and create new songs.

We are also starting to work on local Gypsy and Traveller sites this week, working with young people to create there a own music, as well as exploring thier heritage and looking and listening to the music there mums, dads and Grandparents listened and played. And then hopefully creating there own MiXT UP versions of songs they used to hear and what they like now!

After summer we are running a project with the massive Philharmonia, working with young people from leicester, combing more modern contemapary music and also the music of the philharmonia, to create and very new and exciting MiX UP. This very intensive project will be working with 3 or 4 different groups of young people from leicester, soft touch and us, and will take place over 2 weeks, ending in a gig at a venue in leicester!

After easter we are starting sessions in a young offender institution in leicester for a weekly session creating music with the young men, widening there horizons and giving them skills they can use in the future.

As well as this we will be running various taster sessions all over Leicestershire, and if you would like to be part of these sessions or any of the sessions we are running please get in contact with Joe Crofton on joe@soft-touch.org.uk
