Wired4Music Council Meeting at Nandos, Spitalfields, Thursday 19thApril.

First things first, congratulations are in order for everyone involved at Wired4Music as funding has been secured for another year! This means one thing now, we have a lot of work to get on with.

I was writing up the notes from our recent council meeting, and I think what sums us up is the fact that on the back of our ideas sheets were our dinner orders. Council meetings are traditionally held at Nandos, Spitalfields. Who doesn’t like mixing business with food? This meeting was a bit special as we now have the funding to plan a series of new projects. Commandeering the 15-person table in the restaurant we came up with some exciting potential ideas.

So what have we got in mind?

We are currently working on getting a pitch at festivals in London for our talented Wired4Music performers. As a youth-led organisation we have some brilliant artists and we really want to be able to showcase who we have as part of our team. To do this, as well as working at festivals, we are looking to get involved in events across London. We want to push the Wired4Music brand and show young people from all areas of the city the opportunities we can offer them.

To do this first we need to cement the W4M brand image, so we are putting together a team of our members to work on our website, YouTube channel and social networking sites. This now means that more of our team can get involved with the media side of the music business and gain first hand experience of managing a company’s image.

What are we working on at the moment?

As well as creating performance and organisational opportunities we are in the process of establishing a network of borough representatives. This means setting up a system of having a member represent their borough to spread the word about W4M and also to recruit further members. We feel it would be very useful if people had questions to be able to talk to someone directly who is living in their area of London.

Sometimes we want to be able to reward our team for all the work they do with more than dinner at Nandos; therefore we have created the Wired4Music Rewards Scheme. Soon you will be able to collect stamps for work done with us, from attending meetings to taking photos of events. The more you do, the more you get rewarded! You can earn concert tickets, theatre tickets and even studio rehearsal time.

The success of our panel at the Music Learning Live conference in March was all filmed and the video has been edited, waiting for approval and will be ready for viewing shortly.

So exciting things are on the way for everyone involved in Wired4Music and we would love for more people to get involved. If you are aged between 13-25, live in London or the Greater London area and want to get involved then sign up at www.wired4music.co.uk
