Drowning Not Waving?

Do you feel like you are drowning beneath the changes happening in your world as a music leader? Who do you turn to? How can you keep informed? Are you on your own?

Over the past four years working as Director of MusicLeader South West  common themes keep arising when talking to both experienced and aspiring musicians wanting to share their skills with children and young people.

Huge relief when they get in contact with MusicLeader and discover there is someone on the end of the phone or who they can meet up with to discuss their plans and dreams for developing their future work.

Using the opportunity to network and make useful connections with others working in the same field.

Grateful for traing and support to develop their skills.

A sense of isolation when working as a freelancer.

MusicLeader is coming to an end. As a national programme we have worked hard to address these issues and in future music leaders will need to use their creative thinking to make things happen!

Use resources such as this network to contact other people, to find out what is happening in your area, to share ideas, and interact with each other.

Let others know about this network so that we can develop a thriving community.

Use the resources to keep yourself informed about developments in music education. Be prepared, committed and professional in your approach - use the Music Education Code of Practice to give you a framework for developing yourself.

We are all in this together. Music leaders working in all kinds of settings have a valuable contribution to make to enhancing the not only the joy of music but the life skills and aspirations of the young people they work with.

Learn to swim  - your skills are needed!
