Opera North is recruiting for the ON Youth Company

Opera North is launching a brand new Youth Company for young people (aged 13 - 19 years old) to explore the arts, experience professional productions and develop skills as an ensemble performer.

The Youth Company will focus on performance skills, exploring art forms, productions and theatre making with a team of professional artists (during terms 1 & 2). Term 3 (optional) will focus on producing a high quality piece of theatre offering opportunities to perform, direct, choreograph, design, work backstage and many more. Participants will also opt to take part as either a member of the Youth Chorus or Young Artists’ group.

The Youth Chorus will focus on developing singing and musicianship skills as well as improve performance skills. The Young Artists’ group will explore and experiment with a range of arts form and the process of theatre making as well improve performance skills.

We are holding two FREE taster sessions in October. Tasters will give you a flavour of everything, giving you the chance to decide whether you want to apply to join the Youth Company.

Following the taster sessions, the Youth Company will meet weekly on Thursday evenings during term time from October 2013 – July 2014.

Cost £30 per term including all performances and visits. Please note Term 3 (April – July) is optional. We don’t want the project cost to prevent anyone from taking part in our projects. A number of bursary places are available to families and individuals experiencing financial difficulties. Please contact me directly to discuss further, all discussion will be treated in full confidence.
