Funding Cuts

Very sad that a programme that I've been leading for 7 years providing Singing and Song-writing for young people at Croydon College (in association with CRISP) has been cut due to lack of funding.

The programme has been very successful with a number of young people from different backgrounds benefiting from the opportunity to learn songs in different styles and write their own pieces. I would often support the groups in performing at events celebrating cultural diversity, Black History month and we worked towards recordings. There were young people attending with special educational needs and speakers of other languages. Also young people who had personal and social difficulties who benefited from the opportunity to be in group exploring singing and writing. As a freelancer I am used to projects starting and ending, doors opening and closing but it seems a pity in the current climate to cut a project for young people in Croydon.
