I am a director of MF Community Music CIC, I was one of the music co-ordinators for the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust from April 2013 - December 2015. The Arts Department of HEFT strives to provide art and music activities for users of its three hospitals in Birmingham. From informal public performances to interactive music workshops in wards, the team work to provide a creative outlet and bring the benefits of music in health settings to visitors, patients and staff. The Department has been working within the Trust for around 17 years, and there are current musical activities taking place in a variety of wards, from the Paediatrics to Stroke, Adults Cystic Fibrosis and Geriatrics. Youth Music have donated to the Community Melodies project - a collaborative project between the Arts Department and 3 local secondary schools. Students are introduced to the world of community music, trained up by experienced musicians and then have opportunities to co-lead interactive music sessions for children in the Paediatric Unit of Heartlands Hospital.
