Charlie Fletcher is an experienced musician, teacher and arts professional who has taught in both formal and informal education settings. Before moving into the arts he had a successful career in business and IT. He has worked with 1000's of young people and adults across Hampshire on a range of music activities and in 2008 completed a Post Graduate course in World Music Studies ; spending time in The Gambia conducting fieldwork in local schools and with renowned Kora maker Alieu Suso.. Charlie founded the UVG in 2008 with the aim of providing an opportunity for young people who had an interest in singing to come together outside of school and share their passion.10 years on the UVG has become a ket provider of informal music tuition in the South of England with over 80 young people participating at weekly sessions. In 2013 the UVG became a registered charity and in the same year Charlie was invited to Buckingham Palace in recognition of his work with the charity.
