Posting here primarily in my role as Education Development Manager for the National Centre for Early Music (NCEM) in York. In this role, I support the organisation's key Learning & Participation projects across the Yorkshire and Humber region, particularly looking after the Music4U Programme (http://www.ncem.co.uk/music4u). I am especially involved in fundraising (something I have developed a keen interest in through the National Arts Fundraising School) and programme management and evaluation.
Outside my work for NCEM, I am an active community musician and composer, specialising in Javanese gamelan and music for theatre. As an educator and facilitator, I take pleasure in enabling people from different backgrounds, and with different interests, to find and express their own creativity freely. Inclusive, collaborative and participant-centred approaches to music-making are important to me.
I am also involved in academic life across the region, directing gamelan ensembles at the universities of York and Leeds, and guest lecturing on the community music and world music courses at York and York St John. I am currently developing outreach work for the University of York, centred around their Javanese gamelan instruments.
