Hello, I am Gareth and I am Senior Producer (Music) at Carousel in Brighton. Carousel is arts organisation who for over thirty years have supported people with a learning disability to achieve their artistic ambitions. Carousel works primarily in music and film. My role is to oversee our music work, which includes supporting learning disabled musicians and artists in bands, DJs, producers, radio presenters and choir members. We also support people with a learning disability to plan and run events and to present their work.
Before starting at Carousel in July 2011, I worked in Manchester for a community arts project called Music Stuff. Music Stuff worked with a variety of client groups including young people with learning disabilities, young offenders, looked after children, NEETS and job seekers and used a variety of musical activities to engage participants and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as their musical ability.
I am a practising musician and have been fortunate to gain many years experience of playing in various genres, situations and locations.
