Gavin Lombos is creative director of Readipop.

Gavin Lombos is a Reading based musician and producer who specialises in music projects that explore elements of world music, combining traditional instruments with new technology and devising large scale percussion and community based performances. In 2011 he was given a Pride Of Reading Award for his ‘cultural contribution’ to Reading.

He has performed live all around the world playing guitar on stages from New York to New Zealand and recording with Punjabi drumming group, The Dhol Foundation. Highlights have included major festivals in Rio De Janeiro, Paris, Tblisi, Trutnov (Slovakia), WOMAD UK, Sicily and Abu Dhabi.

His acoustic/electronica global percussion bandBloco Electro in performances which have seen him drumming to a worldwide audience of 50 million at the opening of Live Earth from Wembley, broadcast live from Glastonbury Festival on BBC Radio 1.

He has composed and produced his own music and other artists for CD release with his own label Earth Connection as well as soundtracks and sound design for film and live drama. 

He is music director of Beatroots, one of the UK longest established community samba drumming groups. 

He is a co-director of Reading’s premier music studios facility and award winning live music venue - PlugnPlay Studios. 

Gavin is creative director of Readipop, an innovative community music and media charity based in Reading and has been an associate artistic director of London based arts charity All Change
