Jenny is the Managing Director of Drum Works, and works closely with Artistic Directors Jo Wills and Ross McDouall on development of the Drum Works programme and strategy.
Drum Works is a music project based in east London that encourages social cohesion and improves educational and aspirational outcomes for its participants. It operates in four of the UK’s most disadvantaged boroughs, striving to reach young people facing the most challenging circumstances. Around 500 young people take part in Drum Works every week through partner schools, all of which have very high percentages of pupils living with poverty. Drum Works seeks out the pupils most likely to benefit, low educational achievers, those at risk of exclusion and those with special educational needs and disabilities.
Drum Works began in 2007, initially as part of the Barbican Centre's Creative Learning programme. In 2016 it became an independent Community Interest Company. Drum Works is now a Barbican Artistic Associate and continues to work closely with the Barbican and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
