Starplaya

About

The Starplaya Project will engage NEET young people aged 16-24 from the Sheffield Region. Two core groups of 12 young people will have weekly group work sessions at a recording studio in which they will learn the necessary skills to write and record their own music, whilst learning about the industry as a whole. They will each have a residential at the inspirational Brathay Hall in Ambleside where they will be able to further develop and reflect upon their learning whilst engaging in some positive and challenging activities to boost their confidence and raise their aspirations.

The programme will culminate in a performance involving every young person who has participated allowing them to showcase what they have learnt and how far they have come personally over the 12 months. We envisage that the young people will have a real musical skill at the end of this programme, will have developed the transitional skills which will help them in every aspect of their life and will have the necessary information and guidance to be able to access careers in the music industry.
