Embedding music in Early Years settings

The staff in this setting were very supportive during the craft and music sessions, they were very keen to learn new songs and would often ask to repeat them. They would state that the children were requesting the songs quite often and sometimes they struggled to remember the words or tunes so we decided to record some of the sessions to help them remember.  A senior member of staff commented on how much she felt the staff enjoyed the sessions and how she had observed them using the songs, actions and ideas and overall how their confidence was developing.

The staff also made a wonderful wall display following our music story from the first visit to the end using observations and displaying some of the crafts we made.  They shared what we did with the parents by posting photographs and observations on their online progress system.  Staff told me that some of the parents had commented on how much more their children were singing at home, teaching new songs and demonstrating actions.
