Exeter Street Arts Festival

Once again I found myself looking for good upcoming events in the local area that support local music and local acts. It was brought to my attention by my friend Will at Guitar Lessons Exeter that at the end of August there is an upcoming festival in Exeter called the “Exeter street arts” festival. This is a one-day festival that will showcase acts local to the area as well as all the best in street performances and street food.

A topic I’m always a bit frustrated with is making sure we have enough live performances for young people to be able to enjoy. These days many venues tend to have an age cap on shows and there seem to be fewer and fewer family-friendly concerts and shows. I feel that it is important we still have plenty of shows that young people can go to. This is because I want to make sure that future generations still keep the great history we have with music alive rather than the whole concept of music in the Uk being taken over by processed garbage like x-factor. However, I should add that the street arts festival is one of the many festivals recently that have been popping up with more of a family-friendly vibe which is great because there really should be no age limit on enjoying arts and music.

The street arts festival will be going on all day with performances from Sadie Horler, La Vie En Rose, Mathew North, The Dillyboys, Semantics, Velvet and Stone, James Dixon and many more as well as lots of street food and other street performances. It is worth remembering that access to the daytime event is free for everyone and open to people of all ages. The Live Music At The Terrace will start at 10 am and conclude at 5 pm. There is also an after party at the Pheonix, however, please note that after 12 am this is only open to 18+.

Overall, I personally feel this is a great way for people of all ages to enjoy live music and everything various street arts have to offer. The event will take place on the 25th of August. Everybody loves a free event so you really have no excuse not to attend!
