Plymouth Music Zone mourns sad loss of former Apprentice, Lynsey Dart.

Like many others, we were deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of a remarkable young woman who inspired us and so many people through her music and immensely generous spirit and love of life. Lynsey Dart was one of Plymouth Music Zone's much loved former employees. She was a talented apprentice and volunteer with us before moving on to study in London. And she probably taught us more than we taught her.

32 year old Lynsey never failed to light up every room she came into. We'll never forget her unmistakable laugh and ability to bring a smile to everyone's faces. She showed people the true meaning of resilience and taught us not to let anything get in the way of reaching our aspirations.

We know we're not alone in saying it's difficult to find the words at this time. So we wanted to share a few of Lynsey's own words from the years we were so honoured to have spent with her. We recall when Lynsey first joined us in 2013, when asked what music had done for her in her life, she responded:

"Music makes me feel complete. Music has allowed me to form friendships with the most unlikely people. Music has been a catalyst and helped me to bring people together. What I love about music is it allows people from different backgrounds to meet as equals."

Lynsey then went on to share more of her beautiful self in this short film she wanted to make about her time at Plymouth Music Zone:

Lynsey Dart was simply unforgettable and we will always be thankful for what she shared and the profound impact she had on so many of our participants. She will always remain a vital part of Plymouth Music Zone's story.

Our deepest sympathies, love and thoughts are very much with her family and friends at this time.
